Poem 5: Medusa

Medusa

Misunderstood
Thats the word I would use
I, the stone masker
The daughter of Phorcys and Ceto
The life I had was the one of a Goddess
Perfect
But then all hell struck loose
Athena, Goddess of Wisdom
Ever since
I can never look through a mirror
Face soft as a rose petal
Eyes shining in the summer day
Hands like a delicate leaf
Floating down from the sky
Hair like a waterfall
Feelings of beauty
I will never feel again
All day and all night
I hear the serpents hiss
Medusa!
The friends I had
Can never look at me
The way they did before
Why??
Why has my life come to this?
Poseidon, God of the Sea
Did nothing
Left me there
To suffer at the hand
Of the wisdom goddess
Not very wise this time
Overthrown by hatred
Never feeling guilty
For the pain
She caused me
